Science Management Masterclass:
Practical Methodology for Estimating Measurement Uncertainty According to the GUM
Target Group: scientists and engineers at ZBT
Group size: min. 4, max. 24
Trainer: Maria Davila
Scope: 3 h
Language: English
Every measurement result is only complete with a statement of its uncertainty. This workshop introduces the internationally recognized GUM (Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement) methodology, covering how to identify sources of uncertainty, apply Type A and Type B evaluations, and calculate the expanded uncertainty.
The session combines theory with a guided worked example and a practical case-study segment based on participants' own measurement cases.
Participants are invited to submit, no later than two weeks before the workshop, a brief description of one measurement case, including repeated measurements data, relevant manufacturer specifications and calibration certificates, and any additional information that may affect the uncertainty estimate.
